After Harvesting.
The Pine Plantation originally part of the Victorian Government Scheme to boost school revenue has at last been harvested.
Purchased and planted in 1962, the original pines were destroyed in the 1977 Bushfires that swept through Derrinallum, but they were replanted soon after.
After quietly growing for many years at the base of the Mount
the School has at last reaped the benefits.

The harvesting planned over a number of months started on Monday 23rd August 2010 and proceed over the next couple of weeks.
One of many truck loads of Mount Elephant Pines passing along Heards Road on the way to China. (I believe was it's the final destination).
Future planting will see the block replanted with more appropriate native trees for future generations to harvest, supplying the school with much needed additional funds.
The Pine Plantation removal has also enhanced the view of the Mount from the Hamilton Highway
and the replanting with native tree's giving a more natural softer look.
